The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for 5 p.m. March 28 to 6 a.m. March 29 for much of the Southern Tier of New York and Northern Tier of Pennsylvania.

The advisory is for Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego and Sullivan Counties in New York and Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne and Pike Counties in Pennsylvania.

Forecasters say winds out of the West at 20 to 30 MPH are expected with gusts up to 50 MPH.

Winds of that strength could bring down tree branches and call isolated power outages as well as cause challenges for drivers, especially those operating so-called high profile vehicles.

People in the advisory area should secure all loose objects.  Motorists traveling through the area should maintain a firm grip on the steering wheel.
