Where Are New York’s Highest Ranking Hospitals For Safety?
The Leapfrog Group has compiled a list of rankings for hospitals across the United States for Fall 2024. Titled Leapfrog Safety Grade, the Leapfrog Group identifies as "an independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system."
According to the Leapfrog website, a few of the things that help determine a safety grade include how well the hospital prevents infections values patient safety, and whether are there protocols and standards in place for preventing errors.
Twice per year, Leapfrog compiles safety grades for approximately 3000 hospitals across the country. Most hospitals in New York State that received an 'A' grade, were located in the New York City and Long Island areas.
Upstate New York did score a few 'A' ranked hospitals - Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic in Clifton Springs (near Rochester), along with Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston (near Niagara Falls) and Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.
