Two Pedestrians Hurt in Vestal Hit-and-Run
Vestal police were working to track down a vehicle that struck two women in front of a town restaurant.
The hit-and-run incident occurred at the University Plaza on the Vestal Parkway East around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Initial reports from the scene indicated the pedestrians had been hit by a sport utility vehicle. It happened in front of Tully's restaurant in the southeast corner of the busy commercial and residential complex.
Two Vestal Volunteer Emergency Squad ambulances were dispatched to the University Plaza.
The injured women appeared to be conscious as medics evaluated them at the scene. They were transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.
A Tully's restaurant manager observed emergency workers tending to the injured pedestrians. He said he had not witnessed the incident.
Police broadcast an alert to neighboring law enforcement agencies with a description of the vehicle that struck the women and drove away from the scene.
