The Vermont Catamounts showed why they are the premier men's basketball team in America East tonight (Monday) as they upped the conference record to 11-0 with a 71-51 win over the Binghamton Bearcats.  The Catamounts improved their overall mark to 21-5 with their home court victory.  They are now 5-0 at home against America East opponents.

The Catamounts took a 33-23 lead at the half.  They outscored Binghamton 38-28 in the second half to win by 20 points.  The Bearcats trimmed the lead to nine points on several occasions but could not mount a serious charge at the lead.

Three-point shooting was a dagger in the Bearcats' hearts.  Vermont went 9-17 for 53 percent beyond the arc.  Ernie Duncan was able to score six three-point baskets in eight attempts to lead all scorers with 18 points.  Binghamton's top gun was Bobby Ahearn who finished with 15 points.

With the loss the Bearcats fall to 3-8 in America East and 12-14 overall.  Binghamton returns home to host Albany Thursday at 7 PM.
