Sam Sessoms Transfers to Penn State to Play for Nittany Lions

Binghamton University's standout point guard Sam Sessoms is headed to Penn State University. Earlier this month Sessoms entered the NCAA's transfer portal and announced he was leaving the Bearcats after two outstanding seasons.  Sessoms confirmed he was headed to play for the Nittany Lions on his Twitter account. He will need to sit out this upcoming season in accordance with NCAA transfer regulations.

Sessoms had two outstanding seasons as the Bearcats' starting point guard.  He was named the America East Rookie of the Year in his freshman season and was an America East Second Team All-Conference selection this past season. Sessoms finished as the scoring champion in America East this year averaging 19.4 points per game.  He finished second in assists averaging 4.8 per game.

Sessoms became one of just seven players in the history of America East to score his one thousandth point during his sophomore season.  He set several Binghamton University scoring records at the Division I level including the highest single game total of 40 points during an overtime win over Boston University.

The Nittany Lions are coached by Pat Chambers who is a former head coach of the Boston Terriers when they were members of America East. Penn State finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 21-10 and and 11-9 slate in the Big Ten Conference.
