A Tompkins County man was sent to jail after he allegedly did not pull over for a state trooper in the village of Groton.

Authorities say 41-year-old Robert Bailey of Groton was charged with fleeing an officer in a vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation and reckless driving.

According to a New York State Police news release, a trooper tried to stop the vehicle operated by Bailey after observing traffic violations.

Bailey allegedly failed to comply. The vehicle he was driving then struck another before slamming into a utility pole.

Police say Bailey was not hurt. They say he possessed a loaded gun.

Bailey was arraigned and sent to Tompkins County Jail without bail.
