Update: Police Identify Five Injured in Conklin Head-On Crash
New York State Police are investigating a head-on crash that has sent five people to hospitals with serious injuries.
Troopers were called with the report of a crash on Murphy Road near Ketchum Road in the Town of Conklin at 9:19 a.m. January 21.
According to a State Police news release, a 2008 Dodge Charger and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado were involved in the collision.
Authorities say four passengers and the driver of the Charger suffered serious injuries.
The driver and two passengers were taken to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City while two other passengers were flown by LifeNet medical helicopter to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment.
The driver of the Silverado was evaluated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services crews. State Police say that person was not taken to a hospital.
JANUARY 24 UPDATE:
New York State Police identify the driver of the Dodge Charger as 36-year-old Michael L. McDonald of Conklin, who was transported to Wilson Hospital.
His passengers are identified as 26-year-old Victoria M. Wilcox and 14-year-old Keaton McDonald, both of Conklin, who were both flown to Upstate University Hospital as well as 13-year-old Zoe Grems of Conklin and 4-year-old Kaylyn Mendez of Binghamton, who were both transported to Wilson Hospital.
The driver and only occupant of the Chevrolet Silverado is identified as Christopher M. Davidson, age 53 of Owego, NY who was evaluated on scene and not transported to a hospital.
Authorities have not provided information on the conditions of the occupants of the Dodge Charger. Troopers are also not releasing information concerning the cause of the crash.
The conditions on Friday morning were mainly clear and dry throughout the region.
The State Police news release says members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene. Troopers were assisted by the Broome County Sheriff’s Department, Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad, Superior Ambulance, Conklin Fire and the Broome County EMS Coordinator.
The crash remains under investigation.
