Unlicensed Bradford County Day Care Operator Charged in Baby’s Death

A Bradford County woman, who ran an unlicensed child care facility, is charged with close to a dozen counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The Elmira Star Gazette reports Athens, Pennsylvania Police arrested 50-year-old Kelly Jo Lee of Wilawana October 19 after an infant in her care died in May.  Authorities accused of failing to provide a safe sleeping environment for the 3-month-old boy.

Lee is charged with 11 counts of endangering the welfare of a child as well as obstructing governmental administration and tampering with evidence.

Authorities say Lee cared for around ten children under the age of five in her home, which was a violation of state requirements.
