The UMass Lowell River Hawks had an enjoyable Saturday at the expense of the Binghamton Bearcats men's and women's basketball teams.  At the Events Center the River Hawks women topped BU 66-56 to up their conference record to 4-0. With the loss the Bearcats fall to 1-2 in America East competition.

Later in the afternoon at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell the River Hawks men's team defeated the Bearcats 85-66.  UMass Lowell led 44-34 at the half and outscored the Bearcats 41-32 in the second half to record the win.  The River Hawks up their conference record to 2-1 while the Bearcats fall to 1-2.

UMass Lowell's twin scoring aces showed why they are among the best athletes in America East.  Sharpshooters Christian Lutete and Obadiah Noel combined for 53 of their team's 85 points.  Lutete came into the game averaging 20 points per game and scored 28 points versus the Bearcats.  He made 11 of 15 shot attempts including going 5-8 from three-point range.  Noel, the reigning America East Player of the Week, made 9 of 13 shots to account for his 25 points.

Brenton Mills, Pierre Sarr and Richie Caldwell, Jr. each scored 14 points for the Bearcats.  Both Binghamton teams return to action on Wednesday evening to face the Vermont Catamounts.  The women play in Burlington (air at 6:45 on CBS 1360 AM WYOS) and the men host the Catamounts at the Events Center at 7:00 PM (6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
