The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team hung in against the UMBC Retrievers on Wednesday night but in the end could not pull off a home court win over the America East defending champions.  UMBC upped its America East record to 8-3 with a 64-50 victory over BU at the Events Center in Vestal.

A late second half 13-2 run by the Retrievers dashed the Bearcats comeback efforts. Standout freshman and reigning America East Rookie of the Week Sam Sessoms again led all Binghamton scorers.  He hit for 23 points to up his points per game average to 18.3.  J.C. Show scored a season high 20 points and gave Binghamton some much-needed outside scoring punch making six three-point shots in 11 tries.  That was especially needed since the Bearcats primary outside shooting ace Caleb Stewart was held to just two points with both coming at the foul line.

Joe Sherburne score 16 points to lead UMBC.  The win gives them a series sweep of the Bearcats and keeps them in the running for a high playoff seed.
