A Chenango Forks teen and an Elmira man are accused of stealing a purse from an elderly couple at the Walmart in Vestal and having heroin and hypodermic needles in their possession.

At 2:40 p.m. November 29 Broome County Sheriff’s officials located a Chevrolet Tahoe that Vestal Police had said was believed to have been involved in the reported robbery.

Authorities say 24 year old Shane Sherwood of Elmira had ties to Johnson City.  He and 19 year old Maisen Panko of Chenango Forks were found in the parking lot of the Sunoco Express on Upper Front Street in the Town of Dickinson.

Both are charged with criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. Sherwood was also wanted on a felony warrant out of Chemung County.

Officials say Panko and Sherwood were sent to the Broome County Jail without bail.

More charges are expected to be filed by the Vestal Police Department.
