Truck Driver Hauling Wine Accused of DWI

A tractor trailer driver is accused of driving through Whitney Point with a blood alcohol level at more than three times the legal limit.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say they received numerous reports March 27 of a southbound tractor trailer on Interstate 81 swerving from its lane in the area of Exit 8.

Deputy Joshua Dodd says he also saw the rig swerving out of its lane and stopped the vehicle near Exit 4 in Kirkwood.

57 year old Jae Ehrgood of Madison, Pennsylvania reportedly measured a blood alcohol content of .25%.

Deputies say Ehrgood was hauling a full load of 80,000 pounds of wine.

He was issued tickets for aggravated DWI, a lesser DWI count and moving from a lane unsafely.
