Town of Dickinson Man Found With Rent-a-Jeep Reported Stolen in Florida

A Town of Dickinson man is charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property after Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies say they found him driving a 2020 Jeep Cherokee that had been reported stolen in Florida.

36-year-old Simon Johnson was arrested Tuesday when the deputy on routine patrol spotted the Jeep belonging to EAN Holdings on Old Front Street in the Town of Dickinson.  Authorities say they found the Jeep was a rental vehicle that had not been returned on schedule and was reported stolen.

Deputies say they also found Johnson in possession of marijuana packaged in three bags.

In addition to the felony count, Johnson is charged with a violation of unlawful possession of marijuana.

The Jeep was impounded and Johnson was ordered to appear in the Town of Dickinson Court at a later date.
