Authorities say Robert Kirk Jr. of Barton was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

According to New York State Police, troopers were dispatched following a 911 call reporting a dispute at a home on Nigor Hollow Road in the town of Tioga.

Investigators say they determined Kirk had struck the other person several times in the face, causing bleeding and bruising. The injured person was treated at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre and released.

Police say Kirk was arrested around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. He was arraigned in Barton town court and remanded to the county jail on $2,500 bail.

Kirk was ordered to appear in Tioga town court on October 18.
