The Roberson’s Annual RoberCon Will Be Hosted Online
According to a press release from the Roberson Museum and Science Center, due to covid-19, the eighth annual RoberCon, which is the area’s premier sci-fi, cosplay and tabletop convention, will be hosted on line September 26 and 27.
One of Robocon’s organizers Natalie Shoemaker said “This pandemic has meant a lot of us have had to get creative, and we’re hoping to bring our own brand of RoberCon flair to the internet for a few days.”
The annual RoberCon event draws more than 800 attendees each year and while most are from the surrounding area, the event had brought in visitors from as far away as New Zealand.
Shoemaker says “We’re excited by the prospect of being able to do things differently, and reach a new audience of geeks and gamers."
Some of the special guest who will make a panel appearance for this years on line RoberCon include, actor Paul McGann (8th incarnation of The Doctor in Doctor Who), actor Miriam Margolyes (Harry Potter, Blackadder, Call the Midwife), and singer/ songwriter Dr. Pants, and YouTubers from Our Family Plays Games.
Shoemaker said its not the same as an actual convention, but the staff and organizers feel its too important to our community, and for people who share this type of passion to connect.
If you would like to participate in the panels and workshops via Zoom, a full weekend badge is $15 HERE
Access to the discard which includes many of the social events, watch parties and games is free HERE
