A Wind Chill Warning is in effect until 7 a.m. Sunday, January 7 for the entire Twin Tiers and Central New York.

Wind chills reaching ten to 30 degrees below zero can cause frostbite in as little as ten minutes.

NOAA also advises motorists that the high winds could cause reduced visibility from blowing snow through the weekend.

Meanwhile, New York State Electric and Gas is reminding residents to keep exhaust vents, gas meters and regulators clear of snow and ice as they recover from any winter storm.

NYSEG says snow, ice and other debris can block exhaust vents for furnaces, clothes dryers, water heaters and other appliances increasing risk of carbon monoxide buildup, which can be deadly.
