New York State Police say two teenagers are facing charges after allegedly stealing a car and trying to get away from officers in Otsego County.

Authorities say at 5:26 a.m. September 30, Troopers in Oneonta were called about a car off the road facing the wrong way on Interstate 88 in the Town of Otego.

The officers found the vehicle and saw two teen walking near the roadway.  When the troopers activated their emergency lights, the teens ran off.

One juvenile was taken into custody near a home on county Highway 48 in the Town of Otego and the second child was located a short distance away on County Highway 48 trying to hide by lying down in a field.

Investigators say they found the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu was reported stolen in Albany.

The teens are charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property and misdemeanor resisting arrest. The case is being handled in Family Court.
