Substantial Amount of Jewelry Stolen from Southern Tier Mall Store

A Southern Tier County to the west of the Greater Binghamton area is reporting a jewelry heist.

New York State Police say someone broke into Zale’s Jewelry Store at the Arnot Mall in Horseheads shortly after closing time on Saturday, December 4 and stole a “substantial amount of jewelry” in a matter of minutes.

The caper, however, was not as spectacular as the recent mass-mob smash and grab robberies plaguing the west coast in recent days.

State Police say they were alerted by a store alarm at 9:19 p.m. December 4 and discovered the burglary.
