NYS Trooper, Three Others Hurt in Crash on Interstate 88
Four people, including a New York state trooper, were injured in a crash involving three vehicles on Interstate 88 in Otsego County.
Authorities say the incident happened shortly after 5 p.m. Monday in the town of Maryland.
According to state police, the trooper had pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation in the eastbound lanes of the highway.
Another car slammed into the state police patrol vehicle. The momentum of the crash pushed the police vehicle into the vehicle that had been pulled over to the shoulder.
Investigators say the trooper from the Oneonta barracks was taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown for treatment of head and neck injuries.
A 21-year-old woman and a three-year-old child who were in the stopped vehicle also sustained head and neck injuries. They were transported to A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the troop car, a 32-year-old Richmondville woman, was taken to Fox Hospital for treatment of knee and arm injuries.
The names and conditions of the injured were not released by state police.
