State Police Seek Driver of Truck that Struck Troop Car on I-81
A tractor-trailer sideswiped a New York State Police troop car on Interstate 81 in Broome County and drove away.
Authorities are trying to find the truck driver involved in the crash, which happened around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Town of Lisle.
The marked police vehicle was on the right side of the highway's northbound lanes about one mile south of the Cortland County line.
The car's emergency lights were activated when it was struck by a tractor-trailer. The truck continue without stopping after the crash.
The trooper, who was assisting a Broome County sheriff's deputy at the scene of an earlier crash, was not inside the vehicle when it was sideswiped.
State police provided no description of the tractor-trailer involved but investigators believe it would have extensive damage to its passenger side.
