St. Patrick’s Day Doughnuts Draw Crowd to Endicott’s Cider Mill
Many doughnut lovers showed up at the Cider Mill in Endicott before dawn to take advantage of a St. Patrick's Day special event.
The Union District landmark on Nanticoke Avenue started turning out thousands of fresh doughnuts early Wednesday morning.
A new Belshaw doughnut machine was put into service. The unit is capable of producing 120 dozen doughnuts an hour - double the capacity of the Cider Mill's old machine.
The doughnuts were being sold at a special low price for the one-day event. Managers said this was the first time the Cider Mill had opened its doors during the winter.
People wearing masks lined up throughout the day for an opportunity to purchase doughnuts.
The Cider Mill is scheduled to open for its regular season in early August.
