Speeding Stop on I81 in Marathon Turns Up Loaded Handgun

A Chambersburg, Pennsylvania man is being held without bail in the Cortland County Jail after New York State Police say they pulled him over on Interstate 81 in Marathon.

Troopers say they found 29-year-old Wesley Lee had a loaded handgun in the vehicle that was pulled over for speeding at 10:24 a.m. April 2.

Authorities say they noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car, which resulted in the search.

Lee is charged with felony possession of a weapon and was ticketed for speeding and possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

33-year-old Isaiah Edgecombe of Rockaway Beach, New York, who was riding in the vehicle, was ticketed for unlawful possession of marijuana after Troopers say they found him with a small amount of pot.

A second passenger was not arrested.
