Site Prep Underway for Dickinson Habitat for Humanity Home
A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the next Broome County Habitat for Humanity project.
The new dwelling will be located on Linda Drive in the Town of Dickinson, off Glenwood Road. The site is just north of the Legacy Bay Townhomes in Binghamton.
The home that will go on the foundation has been built by students in the construction trades program at Broome-Tioga BOCES.
Broome County Habitat for Humanity executive director Amy Winans said this is the second project being developed in collaboration with BOCES.
Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Winans said students constructed the three-bedroom house over the past couple of years.
The new structure eventually will be transported in two parts from the nearby school to the Linda Drive site.
Once it's installed on the foundation, plumbing, electrical and mechanical work will be performed to complete the project.
