Rape Suspect Arrested

Michael J. Degnan was arrested Thursday for Rape 1st Degree and additionally placed in custody on a Parole Violation warrant after being located at the Dell Motel in the Town of Kirkwood.  The arrest was the result of a combined investigation among State Police in Binghamton, the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force and the New York State Division of Parole.

Investigators from the Binghamton Police Department and Broome County Sheriff's Office also assisted in the apprehension of Degnan.  Degnan was processed at the Binghamton State Police barracks, arraigned in the Town of Kirkwood Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.

Degnan was being sought as a suspect in the forcible rape of a 14-yea-old female in the Port Crane area earlier this month.  Police say the investigation is continuing.
