The owner of a site near the Binghamton University campus in Vestal is working to develop a new food venue.

The business would be located on a parcel where a vacant two-story commercial building now stands.

The town planning board has been reviewing a proposal to develop Sugar Lips Food Truck Park at 105 Annetta Street. The site is located just south of the Vestal Parkway next to a Speedway convenience store.

The project would include five food trucks with some outdoor seating. The trucks would be parked near the existing building, which has housed medical offices in the past.

Abe Slilaty, the property owner,  is working with Fritz Vail, who operates Sugar Lips Ice Cream Shop in Johnson City to develop the new food venue.

Slilaty said the food truck park would provide additional food options and menus that differ from the chain restaurants that line the Parkway.

Plans call for about 35 parking spaces on a gravel lot across the street from where the food trucks would be located.

The Sugar Lips Food Truck Park project is expected to be discussed at the Vestal planning board's July 14 meeting.
