Police: Woman Seriously Hurt Chenango County Toddler

Investigators say a Chenango County woman faces a felony assault charge after a 14-month-old child was seriously injured at a home in the town of Smithville.

Authorities say 21-year-old Lindsey McGehee of McDonough was arrested on Tuesday.

According to New York State Police, McGehee is suspected of causing a serious injury to the toddler while at a residence on Route 220. The incident is said to have occurred on March 5.

In addition to the second-degree assault count, McGehee was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

McGehee was arraigned in Oxford town court. She was sent to Chenango County Jail on $5,000 bail.
