Several state police units filled a normally-quiet Endwell neighborhood after a suspicious package was reported at a residence.

Authorities continue to decline comment about exactly what was found in the box left at a home on King Street on Monday.

Neighbors said they were troubled by the sudden flurry of activity on the street west of Beckwith Avenue. The site was one block south of the Visions Federal Credit Union complex on Country Club Road.

They described seeing several state police vehicles and what appeared to be a bomb disposal unit at the house where the package was discovered.

A perimeter was set up around the scene as troopers and investigators worked outside the home. No unusual noises were reported but one neighbor said there was mention the box may have contained firecrackers or similar explosive items, along with BBs.

Police were in the area for several hours. A person who resides at the house declined comment about what had occurred.

State police on Wednesday remained tight-lipped about the investigation except to say no one was hurt in the incident and no arrests had been reported.
