Johnson City police investigators say a woman whose body was found in her burning home died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities say they believe no one else was in the house when the 39-year-old woman set a fire in the house at 81 West Street and then shot herself.

A neighbor reported the blaze around 7:45 p.m. Saturday. Johnson City police chief Brent Dodge said firefighters discovered the woman's body in a second-floor bedroom shortly after they arrived.

Dodge said an autopsy concluded the woman died as the result of suicide.

The police chief said investigators located surveillance video of the woman filling a gas can at a nearby store shortly before the fire.

Dodge said a .22 caliber gun was found near her body and a note was located in the home.
