The first incident happened at about 2 p.m. on September 9 near 2272 Route 11 in the Town of Virgil.

In that case, a three-year-old male tri-colored beagle disappeared. The dog, which has a black back and a white chest, was wearing a blue collar.

An early-2000s white Chevrolet van with New York license plates was seen in the area around the time the dog vanished. A man was spotted getting out of the vehicle before driving away.

The second incident happened on September 27 near 1912 McGraw Marathon Road in the Town of Freetown.

A two-year-old orange and white female Brittany Spaniel disappeared. That dog was wearing a blue collar with the owner's information on it.

Sergeant Michael Winchell said investigators have followed up on "a couple of leads" but have made no arrests.
