Investigators say an Endicott man stole credit cards, cash and personal information from the purses of shoppers at a busy supermarket.

Police say 31-year-old Jason Mitchell of Broad Street faces a dozen felony charges in the case.

Authorities say Mitchell is accused of pilfering the items from purses belonging to three people who were shopping at the Price Chopper store on North Street in Endicott.

Police say Mitchell has been charged with seven counts of forgery and three counts of grand larceny. He also faces counts of identity theft and criminal possession of stolen property.

Detectives say Mitchell used a stolen credit card and forged a signature to buy several cartons of cigarettes at a convenience store.

Investigators are asking anyone who believes they may have had a wallet stolen while shopping at the Endicott Price Chopper store to contact police. The detective division number is 607.757.2479.
