Children of all abilities will now be able to share in the fun and get some valuable exercise at a new playground at the W.A. Olmstead Elementary School in Harpursville.

The new accessible and inclusive playground was unveiled June 4 and features Americans with Disabilities Act-friendly wheelchair ramps, slides and other play structures as well as a new rubberized playground surface.

The improvements to the facility were made available with the help of a $135,000 New York State grant through the Municipal Facilities Program of the Dormitory Authority.

The idea for the project came from parent Sierra Kulas whose sons are confined to wheelchairs and who began working at the end of 2016 on getting funding for the plan.
