Former Binghamton Mets field manager Pedro Lopez has been promoted within the New York Mets' organization  and will manage the Las Vegas 51's in 2017.  The 51's are New York's Triple-A affiliate and compete in the Pacific Coast League.

Lopez replaces Wally Backman who resigned at the end of last season.  Lopez managed the Binghamton Mets for the past five seasons and had a record of 377-32  In Binghamton.  In 2013 Lopez led the B-Mets to an Eastern League championship.  That same tear he was named Eastern League Manager of the Year. He was also selected for entry into the Binghamton Baseball Shrine.

Lopez has been a part of the Mets system for nine seasons and played in Las Vegas during a playing career that spanned 13 campaigns.
