Otsego County House Fire Kills 77-Year-Old Man
Authorities say a man died of injuries sustained in an early-morning fire in the Town of Otsego.
According to New York State Police, the blaze in a home on Jones Road was reported shortly before 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators said a 39-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman and three children were able to get out of the burning house without injury.
The man went back inside to assist a 77-year-old man out of the structure. The man who had been in the house was taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, where he was pronounced dead.
The Red Cross assisted the other residents. Five cats and a dog were taken to a veterinarian.

Eight fire departments battled the blaze, which is being investigated by the state Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
