Owego Elementary School students attended their last classes at the town of Union building in late December. They moved into their newly-constructed school about two weeks ago.

The Owego Apalachin School District has until the end of this month to remove any remaining items left behind at the West Corners building.

Union-Endicott school superintendent Suzanne McLeod said the district then will start making minor repairs and upgrades to the school to prepare it for future use.

The school district is collaborating with Binghamton University and SUNY Broome Community College to develop a business incubator at the site.

The building also will house a program to help provide special assistance to struggling high school students.

Union-Endicott also is pursuing a $10 million educational grant through "XQ: The Super School Project." The district is participating in a nationwide effort directed at "reinventing" high school.
