The Broome County Fire Wire service reports crews were called to the home on Pennsylvania Avenue near the Town line at around 1:29 p.m. City Firefighters responded and found much of the fire on the first floor of the home. Initial reports indicate the blaze may have started in the kitchen area.

There apparently were no injuries to the residents or firefighters but a pet cat may have been lost in the blaze.

Pennsylvania Avenue in the area was closed for several hours while fire crews worked at the scene.
