Authorities say a 23-year-old man was charged with driving while intoxicated after the vehicle he was operating slammed into a police car in Otsego County.

Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]According to state police, Nicholas Degristina of Burlington Flats failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign in the Town of Pittsfield.

Investigators say Degristina's vehicle crashed into a New Berlin Police car near the intersection of State Route 80 and County Route 18.

The New Berlin police officer sustained cuts to his head and hands. He was treated at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.

Police say Degristina's blood alcohol content was measured at 0.14 percent.

In addition to the DWI count, Degristina was issued traffic tickets. He was ordered to appear in Pittsfield town court on February 15.
