NYSEG Stadium will have a new look when the Binghamton Rumble Ponies open their home schedule on April 13 against Erie.  In a collaborative effort New York State and Rumble Ponies' owner John Hughes will fund $2.5 million in stadium upgrades.  On hand to make the announcement at NYSEG Stadium today (Tuesday) were Hughes, Senator Fred Akshar and Binghamton Mayor Richard C. David.

Akshar and New York State Senate Majority Leader John J. Flanagan obtained $2 million in funding through the State and Municipal Facilities Program of the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.  Evans St. Baseball (owner John Hughes) will contribute another $500,000 for the project.

The upgrades will begin immediately and include major items like:

New Stadium Lighting

A New Bullpen and Batting Cage

New Right Field Entrance Gate

New Team Deck on the right field line that can accommodate up to 144 people

New Third Base Terrace featuring picnic tables and terrace family seating.

The $2.5 million is the most improvement funding awarded to upgrade NYSEG Stadium since it opened for the 1992 season.
