As of 4 a.m. August 5, close to 200 customers in Delaware County, most in the Town of Hancock, were without power.  NYSEG could not provide an estimated time for power restoration.

Overnight, the subsidiary of AVANGRID, Incorporated said more than 90,000 customers were without power with the hardest it area in Brewster in Putnam County in the Hudson Valley.  NYSEG says it’s been dealing with hundreds of broken poles and downed wires.

NYSEG says having power out now is more complicated for residents as many people are still home more than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  It’s also more complicated for utility crews as they and customers strive to maintain a six-foot physical distance to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

There was no major storm damage reported in the Southern Tier and Central New York region although some minor flooding caused a few detours in poor drainage areas.
