Investigators say the number: (607) 467-3215 is a scam and the call is not originating from any real State Police station.

The scam is far-reaching with the State Police saying they’re getting complaints from people in New York City who have been receiving the call from the 607 exchange.

Authorities recommend, as with any suspicious call, you never share any personal information over the phone.  You should also have verification methods in place, such as security questions and passwords, that only you and the other party would know.  That safe-guard could especially save people from becoming victims of the so-called “Grandparent Scam” where a caller claims to be a child or grandchild in trouble requesting money or prepaid gift cards be sent to keep them from jail.
