UPDATE: New York State Trooper Shot in Deposit/ Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder
New York State Police are investigating the shooting of another one of their own, weeks after a Trooper was shot by a man while investigating a suspicious individual in the Town of Colesville.
State Police say Trooper Ryan Thorp responded to a domestic incident on Sunrise Terrace in the Village of Deposit shortly after 9 p.m. June 23 when he was shot in the arm.
Trooper Thorpe was taken by ambulance to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City where he underwent surgery overnight and was reported in stable condition.

44-year-old Scott Mawhiney of Deposit was taken into custody and arraigned on a charged of felony attempted murder in the first degree.
He's being held in the Broome County Jail without bail
Authorities had said there was no threat to the public.
The investigation is continuing.
The previous shooting of a Trooper in Broome County happened on evening of June 9.
New York State Police and Broome County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an incident on East Windsor Road and confronted a man before he reportedly fired at them, wounding Trooper Becky Seager. Another Trooper suffered a shrapnel wound.
34-year-old Jason Johnson was apprehended about 20 hours later following a massive manhunt when a tip led to him being found along the banks of the Susquehanna River in Colesville.
Johnson has been charged with two counts of felony attempted murder. He was arraigned on June 11 and authorities at the time said more charges were pending.
Trooper Seager is expected to make a full recovery.
