New York State Police Look For Dispatchers
November 26 is the deadline for anyone who wants to serve the public as a Communication Specialist for the New York State Police.
Applications for those interested in taking the exam for the job must be postmarked by the end of the day. There is no online application but the information and form can be found at http://troopers.ny.gov/Employment.
State Police Communications Specialists are responsible for all radio communication in a Troop’s jurisdiction and involves the use of data terminals, doing file checks, transmitting information, taking complaints and requests for assistance and sending messages through the New York State Police Information Network.
Communications Specialists are often on the front line in handling situations and facilitating the flow of information in developing situations.
Appointees work 40-hour weeks with rotating shifts and varying days off. Positions are being filled across the state.
