New York State Police Investigate Serious Cortland County Crash

New York State Police are continuing to investigate a serious crash on Interstate 81 in Cortland County.

Authorities say a Chevrolet Colorado with two people inside was driving north near exit 13 in the Town of Preble at around 9:40 p.m. August 5 when it was rear-ended by a Hyundai Elantra.

According to the authorities, the pickup truck and car both traveled through the grass and hit the Exit 13 sign.  The truck also hit a guiderail while the Elantra continued to travel through the grass.   

Troopers say the woman driving the Elantra was ejected during the impact of the crash. 

She was transported to a Upstate University Medical Center in serious condition.  The driver and passenger in the Colorado were not hurt.
