
New York State Police Confiscate Ghost Guns at Southern Tier Disturbance
New York State Police say they have arrested a Southern Tier man in connection with an investigation into a report of an attempted break-in and the discovery of unregistered ghost guns.
Troopers say they responded to a home on County Highway 54 in Springfield in Otsego County on Sunday, April 10 and found 37-year-old Kenneth Carson of Springfield attempted to enter the house of someone he knew and fired a gun while outside.
Troopers say no one in the house was hurt.
Authorities say in addition to the kit-assembled ghost guns, other firearms were also seized.
Carson is charged with three felony counts of Criminal Possession of a weapon as well as felony counts of of Attempted Burglary, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Manufacture of a Machine Gun, Reckless Endangerment and Criminal Mischief.
He was sent to the Otsego County Jail on $20,000 bail.
State Police say making or possessing privately manufactured firearms without serial numbers, commonly known as “ghost guns” is a crime and a threat to public safety. Troopers encourage anyone who knows of someone making firearms to contact their local law enforcement agency.
