
Gun Recovered After Disturbance Near Binghamton High School
Several police units rushed to the neighborhood around Binghamton High School when a fight erupted as students were leaving campus at dismissal time.
A school resource officer alerted police patrols of a disturbance near the intersection of Main and Oak streets shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday.
City police chief John Ryan told WNBF News that additional officers responded to the area. He said as they investigated the disturbance, the had contact with some of those who had been involved in the incident.

Ryan said a handgun was recovered from a person who apparently had been in the disturbance. The individual with the gun was transported to police headquarters for the investigation.
The police chief said no shots were fired and there were no reports of injuries.
Police were told one of those involved in the disturbance was last seen running north on Murray Street.

There was a heightened police presence around Binghamton High School around dismissal time following a series of fights that broke out in the area last week.
