A Utica-area man died following an Otsego County motorcycle crash.

Authorities say 86-year-old Herbert Black of Remsen lost control of a 1998 Honda motorcycle on Route 28 around 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

Investigators say Black was thrown from the motorcycle when the bike hit a street sign.

According to state police, Black sustained serious injuries to his head, neck and chest.

Black was taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. He was pronounced dead about an hour after the crash.
