Johnson City water department crews have been busy making repairs to additional lines.

Service to some residential and business customers was affected because of the latest problems.

A supervisor said a broken line on Helen Drive in front of the abandoned Endicott Johnson factory building was reported Wednesday afternoon.

Repairs were made at that site but another line ruptured a couple of blocks away. That problem was on Main Street near the intersection with Jennison Avenue and Avenue A.

Crews worked early Thursday morning to fix that line. The eastbound lane of Main Street was closed while repairs were being made.

Water line breaks have become a common occurrence in that section of Johnson City in recent years. Officials say many of the lines in the area are more than 100 years old.
