New York State Police say 22-year-old Christian Reynolds of Moravia allegedly gave the victim the checks in March. The victim gave him the cash for the check amounts but then found the notes were not valid when attempting to deposit the checks.  The victim was then also informed they would have to repay the bank.

Reynolds appeared with his lawyer at the State Police barracks in Homer on October 7.

He is charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument.

He was released after arraignment in Cortlandville and ordered to reappear in court next month.
