Mississippi Fugitive Found in Marathon, N.Y.
Cortland County Sheriff’s Officials say they located a man who was wanted in Mississippi.
Authorities say the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office contacted them February 3 to ask for help in finding a stolen vehicle and the suspect.
While tracking down leads, Cortland Deputies searched locations where 31 year old Derrick Griffiths may have been.
Authorities saw the stolen vehicle on Mill Street in Marathon and the investigator says the driver matched the description of the wanted man.
The Investigator called for back-up and followed the stolen vehicle to where it stopped on Route 41 as it exited Interstate 81 at McGraw.
Griffiths was taken into custody without incident and sent to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
In New York, he is charged with felony fugitive from justice. The charge in Mississippi is felony embezzlement.
