An employee of a Mirabito convenience store faces a felony charge for allegedly keeping money that was to have been placed in an ATM.

Authorities say 33-year-old Amanda Gus of Hartwick was arrested Thursday morning.

According to New York State Police, troopers investigated a complaint that cash was missing from an ATM and logs were unaccounted for several weeks from February into April.

Police say it was determined that Gus was responsible for filling the cash machine while working at the Mirabito store on Route 205 in Hartwick. She apparently didn't put the money into the ATM.

Investigators say more than $1,000 was reported missing.

Gus has been charged with third-degree grand larceny. She was arraigned in Richford village court and released on her own recognizance.

A state police news release did not indicate whether any of the missing cash has been recovered.
