A new facility is looking to help the newest residents of the region get off to a good and healthy start.

The New York Milk Bank has announced the opening of their 20th milk depot at Lourdes Hospital.

The facility takes donations from mothers wishing to donate extra breast milk to be used to save lives and improve the health of vulnerable premature and other newborn babies.

The local milk depot is accepting prescreened and approved donated breast milk.

Many times mothers are not able to nurse their newborns while research shows that human milk is the best nutrition for babies and protects infants from infections.
